African
American Heritage Inspirational Posters

The
history of African Americans traces its origins to the 1700s and 1800s when
their ancestors were brought to North America chiefly from West Africa to be
enslaved. Though slavery was outlawed by the 13th amendment to the United States
constitution in 1865 and African Americans granted full U.S. citizenship in
1868, they were denied a great amount of rights which had to be fought for, in
most cases by direct confrontation with the authorities.
Today,
African Americans and other minorities may take the bulk of the liberties they enjoy for granted. But
the heritage upon which they currently build, owes a debt to the great men and
women who challenged the status quo of their time, calling for a rethink of what
was then acceptable, and changing the face of society forever. Inspirational
posters of these men and women are things worth cherishing for history and
posterity would forever remember their great contributions to society and all of
humanity.
