The
Antelope is a graceful animal that dwells widely in the open grassland savannahs
of Africa. Some antelopes are also found in Asia. There are about 150 species of
antelopes, and all are known to be very swift animals capable of running at
speeds of up to 97 kilometers per hour (60 miles per hour). The fast speed of
the antelope is necessary for it to overcome its natural predators such as
lions, cheetahs and leopards. Common antelope species include the African kudu
and the gazelle.
