Leppard posters

The
band Def Leppard traces its origin to 1977 when Rick Savage a bass player
started a band called Atomic Mass together with guitarist Pete Willis. The
addition of Tony Kenning a drummer, Steve Clark a guitarist and lead vocalist
Joe Elliot saw the band renamed Def Leppard. Their first record entitled
"The Def Leppard EP" was released in 1979. 1980 saw the release of
their first album "On Through the Night" by which time Rick Allen had
joined as a permanent drummer.

The
story of the band has not been all rosy. In 1982, their second album called
"High n Dry" was released. 1983 saw them move onto the super stage
with the release of the album "Pyromania". This album launched Def
Leppard's career as a truly global band with a large following.
Disaster
struck on New Years eve in 1984 when Rick Allen lost an arm in an automobile
accident. With the aid of an artificial replacement, he continued drumming with
the band. Def Leppard's fourth album entitled "Hysteria" was released
in 1987 and was a big hit worldwide selling millions of copies.
The
death of Steve Clark in 1991 was a big blow to the band. But they nevertheless
continued producing great music seeing a fifth and sixth album released in 1992
and 1993 respectively. In all, Def Leppard has so far released 11 albums to
date. Their last album released in October 2004 and simply called "Best
of" was accompanied by the release of a promo video detailing the bands
career.
