An
in-depth look at demotivational posters - Agony

Agony
can be defined as an intense pain of mind and body. It is no wonder that the
Agony demotivational poster uses the representation of a boxer to make its
point.
Boxing
is not a sport for the faint hearted and even those who dare have to put up with
the rules of the game. As you may pretty much know, the aim of a boxing contest
is to knock your opponent unconscious or to inflict sufficient punishment to
cause him or her to quit and be judged beaten. The primary aim of each participant is to strike blows to the head and torso of the opponent that will knock down and render the boxer incapable of rising to a standing position and defending
him or herself within 10 seconds.
Therefore,
boxing and agony are two things that definitely go hand in hand. Anyone who has
been struck hard with a boxing glove knows too well the pain and dizzy sensation
that follow. And though "No Pain, No Gain" might be a phrase used to
describe one's hard work towards a goal, the demotivational poster above
rephrases it as "Not All Pain is Gain". Quite interesting. In other
words "Without Pain There Can Be No Gain But Not All Pain is Gain".
Looking
at the poster could give one the chill but like all demotivational posters, it
puts forth a message filled with satire and some bitter truth: sometimes you may
suffer at someone else's expense but that suffering would not lead to any
reward.
