An
in-depth look at demotivational posters - Apathy

Apathy
generally refers to a lack of interest or concern in matters of significance or
importance. Another word which could be used to describe apathy is indifference.
And the apathy demotivational poster is cleverly designed using what has become
the symbol of modern communication - the telephone. Not just a telephone but one
wrapped all round by cobwebs indicating neglect and lack of use.
In
business, the customer is always meant to be king. Listening to or attending to
the needs or requests of the customer has become such an essential part of
business ethics not least because most businesses survive based on their ability
to reach out to thousands and in some cases millions of customers. Yet, every
single one of these thousands or millions of customers is just as important and
needs to be carefully attended to in the most friendly of ways.
But,
what about when a customer becomes a headache rather than an asset? What if a
customer spends more time complaining than appreciating the value of the goods
or services that have been offered ? Well, that's where the apathy
demotivational poster comes in - Ignore such a customer. Ignore? But, that could
be severely counterproductive!
Indeed
it could and when the apathy demotivational poster says "If we don't take
care of the customer, maybe they'll stop bugging us" it takes sarcasm to a
new height. And that's the point. Demotivational posters are meant to be
satirical and sarcastic. Yet, they always end up funny and humorous.
The
last place you will want to have the apathy demotivational poster is in...?
Well, you guessed it. You will definitely not want to have it in a place where
you have to deal with customers not if you want them to be loyal and return to
you next time they require a service you can fulfill. Hanging it anywhere else
will be just fine.
