An
in-depth look at demotivational posters - Failure

Failure
: When your best just isn't good enough. That's exactly what the Failure
demotivational poster, shown on the right states. The human spirit is such that
no one ever presupposes that failure is something they will encounter. People
are raised and taught to be positive, to look on the bright side, to believe
they can make it. Yet, the basic fact remains that not everyone can be successful
- a few of us are bound to fail.
Take
a competitive race for instance, in which runners vie for one of the top three
positions so as to win a gold, silver or bronze medal. A typical race may have
anywhere between eight and twenty runners (a marathon would definitely have
more). Each runner believes he or she can make it to the medals table but, in
reality, only three would. But, the human spirit never gives up until it is all
over.
The
Failure demotivational poster tries to approach failure from a satirical and
sarcastic point of view when it defines failure as a condition in which your
best just isn't good enough. But, for all the sarcasm and satire found in this
definition of failure, it also reveals a degree of truth.
No
one will want to be labeled a failure. We all want to be successful people -
people who put in an effort and see its rewards. Whether you are a student
taking a math exam or an entrepreneur starting a business, each and everyone of
us looks forward to success and not failure as our ultimate goal.
But,
the fact remains. For every hundred businesses started each year, only about
twenty survive the first two years of operation and for every hundred students
sitting for a math exam, at least one or two will likely be sitting for it
again. That's the reality of life, bitter, painful and sarcastic as it may
sound. For even if all people put in their best in what they do, not all of them
will turn out successful, for there will be a degree of failure. That's life,
isn't it? Quite demotivating!
