An
in-depth look at demotivational posters - Fear

At
some point in time, we've all been gripped by what we call fear. Fear - the
feeling of anxiety or agitation caused by the presence or imminence of danger.
The Fear demotivational poster captures the concept of fear in a very
interesting way.
"Until
you have the courage to lose sight of the shore, you will not know the terror of
being forever lost at sea". As long as the shore is in sight, a sailor has
little to fear, for even when faced with the continuous torrent of the waves, he
or she can head back to shore as quickly as possible, confident of getting there
safely. But imagine what it means to be lost at sea in the middle of the night
with waves rising in all directions. Now, that's fear.
A
record in the Christian gospels tells of the disciples of Jesus Christ being
caught in a storm at sea. Jesus was also present in the boat but, deeply asleep.
His disciples were so afraid of the waves and wondered why Jesus slept so
soundly amidst the rattling of the waves and the tossing and turning of the
boat. Driven by fear, they rushed to wake him up. On being awakened, Jesus
calmly asked the sea to be still, and it was.
We
fear when we think we have no control over a situation, when we feel it is
beyond our power to bring about a change in events. And that's the exact point
the fear demotivational poster tries to make. When you know the shore is in
sight you have very little to fear. But the moment you are far out at sea with
no shore to guide, you pretty much know you are at the mercy of the elements!
