Art Prints

Folk
art prints are reproductions of paintings that are usually bound by traditions
and conventions in both form and content. There are as much genres of folk art
prints and paintings as there are distinct cultures. This makes folk art prints
unique in character and style. Folk artists are often, though not always
portrayed as people with little or no formal schooling in art. Yet, the beauty
of their works continues to captivate and inspire a lot of people particularly
as it is rooted in traditions and lifestyles that are hundreds or in some cases
thousands of years old.
These
days, it is common to categorize folk art paintings as traditional or contemporary. Traditional paintings are those that rely almost entirely on a
traditional approach to painting while contemporary art has more or less been
influenced by a more modern approach. Traditional or contemporary, however, folk
art paintings and prints remain unique to the culture in which they were
developed.
