Brief Biography

Thomas Kinkade is regarded as the most collected American artist alive. He was born in 1958 and grew up in a small town in California called Placerville on the foothills of the Sierra mountains. His interest in painting was apparent right from a very young age and at just sixteen, he worked as an apprentice under the great Californian painter, Glen Wessels.

Kinkade studied at the University of California at Berkley and The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. After this, he worked for a while in the motion picture industry leaving in 1983 to begin his career as a Luminist painter. Kinkade sold his original paintings in galleries throughout California. In 1982, he married his sweetheart, Nanette.

Today, Thomas Kinkade's works can be found in a wide range of reproductions from cards, calendars, canvas prints, posters, collectible plates, computer software, Bible covers and magazines. In addition to his work, he devotes a lot of time to his wife and four kids as well as to his religious activities. This remarkable man is also a public figure who is involved in charitable causes.
