Vintage Ski
Posters

Vintage
ski posters are the perfect gift for friends who are dedicated skiers. These
beautiful art pieces capture the essence of skiing as it was in days gone by.
From the Championnats de France to the Davos snow skiing arena, vintage ski
posters have got the most beautiful skiing championships and resorts captured in
art.
The
development of skiing as a sport is credited to people from a region of Norway
known as Telemark in the 18th century. Since then skiing has developed into a
world class sport amongst top competitors and fun-seeking alpine skiers. The
terms Telmark and Christie turns are actually used to describe forms of skiing
developed in Norway in which downhill descents are skillfully controlled.
However as more demanding terrains with steeper slopes were encountered when
skiing spread out of Norway to other countries in Europe, Alpine skiing
was born. Alpine skiing uses more sophisticated skis and involves sliding down
steep snow covered hills or slopes.
A great deal of vintage ski posters focus
on alpine skiing at some of the most beautiful skiing resorts in the world. They
are timeless classics and a collectors item. Obtaining authentic vintage
ski posters is very difficult but a number of art stores offer good reprints of
these originals.
